Hello DNN-Europe Friends,
I wanted to inform you all of a new, and hopefully exciting, element to the DNN-Europe organisation. As I mentioned in my previous blog entry, we had a meeting of approximately thirty people on Saturday after the Day of DNN. The general mood in the group was excitement about what DNN Europe can do if we can meet on a more regular basis. While we all agreed that it would be nice, and commercially beneficial, to meet up regularly, for some reason, it has not yet happened.
Well, this is typical chicken and egg situation. There are no meetings, an as a result, there is no activity and no reason to meet up…which is why there are no meetings. So what we need are a few chickens and the eggs will surely follow. We need a catalyst that will bring us together. It might transpire in twelve months that the catalyst is no longer required, but for now, we need some motivation to bring us Europeans together.
With all of that in mind, we have prepared a schedule of live webcasts and we want to invite up to 26 members to join the meetings. These webcasts are going to be technical, and the greater subject area will of course be DNN. We are seeking suggestions for sessions, nominations for speakers, and volunteers who have a session they are prepared to deliver. We will over the next few months build up the program of events, with a view to having at least six months planned in advance.
Our first two sessions are going to be on 16th and 30th June 2010 at 20:00 Central European Time. We will post an article later with the details for the Go To Meeting, but it would be great if you would let us know in advance whether you intend to join the meeting.
Let’s summarise the purpose of the meeting:
1) To act as a vehicle / medium / glue to bring the DNN-Europe professionals together.
2) To provide technical information and support to our colleagues.
In other words, these technical sessions are intended to be the catalyst to prompt us to develop our European organisation. There are many pursuits that fall under our objectives, and these live webcasts are intended to draw you in and provide a reason that you continue to come back. We specifically are making time in the agenda for networking and chat.
Will you come and participate? Please do. We believe that if we reach a point where 20 – 30 people meet once per month we can really produce something great, but we need activity, people to bring enthusiasm, knowledge, support, friendship, technical skills, communication skills and more of course.
Take a look at the attachment (it will also be in the Services.Documents section) where you can see our plans for the next few sessions.
Remember, while it may be possible to download a subsection of the meeting later, that is missing the real reason for running this – we want you with us.
Thanks
Mark
